I am currently enrolled in CFCC's nursing program. I have been attending college since 2003. Due to ever-changing school schedules and demands I have had to sometimes work a couple of jobs while other times I have not been able to work at all. I would like to get into a healthcare position that not only allows me to use my prior CNA skills but also gain experience that will help me in the future in taking care of clients as a nurse. I am interested in internships and available scholarships. I am also interested in working weekends with 12 hour shifts. I would like to gain a REAL position that will benefit my career and help me with a smooth transition from an aide/tech position to a nursing position when I graduate in May 2009.

Why did you choose this career? (10/22/2007)
I chose this career because my mother is an RN and I grew up around it so it feels like second nature to me. I was not sure when I was just out of high school if that was what I wanted to do. I got my certification as a CNA almost 10 years ago. I worked for less than a year and moved to a new state and did not transfer my certification. I tried other options like working in the service industry and the corporate/business industry. After spreading my wings and trying new things I found disappointment and missed the work I did while working in the healthcare field. It was very rewarding to help and take care of people. Now that I am actively doing clinicals in the hospital setting again, I found I have reached my calling and will pursue it until I reach my goals.
